Where-town?

I’ve often referred to this blog as “The Airport Chronicles”, because it’s in airports or airplanes that I actually have time to write a decent post. At the moment I’m on a flight to Toronto where I’ll change planes and fly to Portland, ME. I started this morning in my northern home, north of Grande Prairie, Alberta, and the day will end after a long drive from Portland to the very northern part of Maine late tonight. We’re playing this weekend at the County Bluegrass Fesival in Fort Fairfield, ME. It’s a pretty new festival, and I’ve heard nothing but great things about it. Rhonda Vincent and IIIrd Tyme Out will also be there.

After Fort Fairfield, we have to earn our band name: we’ll drive all night Friday to play at the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival in Woodstown, NJ . Yes, Woodstown. I had erroneously been saying the festival was in Waretown, NJ for quite a while, so I apologize for any confusion. It wouldn’t have been good if we’d actually gone to Waretown, because the only thing going on there this weekend is a meat-cutter’s convention. We could possibly have played there, but there probably wouldn’t have been a P.A. system and we definitely wouldn’t have gotten paid.

It may be hot in many places in North America this weekend, but we’re going to be in the Christmas spirit next week as we head into Tom T. and Dixie Hall’s studio to record a Christmas song that I just recently co-wrote with Tom T. and Dixie. As a preview I’ll just tell you that the song does NOT contain the phrase “join in any reindeer games”.

In Bluegrass Junction news, “Truegrass” (the classic bluegrass show I host weekly on Sirius XM) will feature some bluegrass work songs (and not just coal mining songs) in honour of the holiday. I’ll also have a short tribute to Carter Stanley because I’m embarrassed to say that I missed his birthday last week. Truegrass airs on Sirius 65/XM 17 Friday , 3-6 PM eastern, Sunday, 6-9 PM eastern.

Oh, I almost forgot: continuing the tradition of the Fake Blog Comment of the Week (FBCW), here is the best offering the spammers could muster this week:

“I agree with you. Which is not something I  usually do! I like reading posts that will make one think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!”

The author of this “comment”, implies that he/she usually disagrees with me, which is fine by me. And I didn’t allow this person to comment after all. Oh well.

Have a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend!

Chris
