Nashville to Florida to Alberta

Well, I ended a long North American journey yesterday, returning to northern Alberta after being back in Nashville for a while, then visiting Florida, where my dad and stepmother live. Have you seen the movie “Up in the Air” with George Clooney? I feel like that guy, making sure everything he does contributes to his frequent flyer account. I racked up a lot this month.

It was nice to be back playing with the band, after a holiday hiatus. In addition to playing at SPBGMA and a really nice house concert (or, to be more accurate: “cabin concert) in Bowling Green, we also worked in my first ever performance at a Best Buy (unless you count returning a laptop before the end of the 10 day trial period a performance). I really enjoyed that, actually. Ned’s wife Kelley was on hand to make sure Ned was escorted safely out of the store without spending a good chunk of his monthly salary after the show was over.

More updates soon. Below is a photo sent in from a Bluegrass Junction listener of me at the Berkshire Mountains Bluegrass Festival (now Grey Fox) around 1980. I have no idea what I was wearing there, but i do know that was the same Gallagher guitar I’m still playing. That was the first year I got it. I’ve replaced the capo, though.
