Back to BNA

I’m writing this en route from Edmonton to Nashville today. This weekend marks the kickoff of our busiest stretch of touring, with shows at numerous bluegrass festivals, including The Appalachian Uprising this weekend in Ohio, Bean Blossom, The Red White and Bluegrass Festival, and many more (see “shows and workshops” page).

I have never sent out a mass “For Your Consideration” email about the IBMA awards, and i don’t plan to do it this year, but for the first time, I’m going to break with tradition and ask for your votes in the initial round of IBMA balloting. Why the change? No, I haven’t attended one of those career-advancement workshops (e.g., “Become  a Shameless Self-promoter and Still Have Real Friends”). I think it’s because I encouraged people exactly one time to vote for us in IBMA’s survey of which artist fans would most like to see at the IBMA fan fest, and lo and behold we were the top vote-getter in the survey. I thought to myself, are people just waiting to be asked? So with that in mind, we would appreciate it if you’d take the time to cast a vote for us in the first round of voting for the IBMA awards in these categories:
Album of the Year: “Cloud of Dust” , Chris Jones & The Night Drivers
Song of the Year: “The Love She Left Behind”, Chris Jones & The Night Drivers
writer: Chris Jones
Male Vocalist of the Year: Chris Jones
Banjo Player of the Year: Ned Luberecki
Bass Player of the Year: Jon Weisberger
Mandolin Player of the Year: Mark Stoffel

The latest entry in my “Fake Blog Comment of the Week” (FBCW) series has an innovative twist: It attempts to lure me in by making me (and Lisa Jacobi, my web designer) feel insecure about the site. Nice try.

“For some reason only half of the post is being displayed, is it my browser or the site?”

Please feel free to add your real comments any time. Thanks!  See you soon at a festival near you.

Chris
