Back From Darrington

Hello friends,

We’re back from the Darrington Bluegrass Festival in Darrington, Washington, which we all loved and can’t wait to return to. Some good pictures were taken from the event, and I’ll post them when I get a hold of them myself.

Good news about our new CD “Cloud of Dust”: it has made it to the second round of IBMA balloting for Album of the Year! Thanks to all those who voted for it, and thanks to those in radio for helping raise awareness of the release. Speaking of radio, “Cloud of Dust” will be featured this week on Cindy Baucom’s “Knee Deep in Bluegrass” show, and I’ll be her interview guest.

In other IBMA balloting news, the Night Drivers’ Ned Luberecki has made it to the second round of potential nominees for IBMA Banjo Player of the Year. Congratulations, Nedski!

I feel uncomfortable asking for votes for awards shows, and I’m not sure that’s the best way to further the process, but Ned tells me he’s absolutely fine with it. So NED says, vote for him and for “Cloud of Dust”. There you have it.

We have a few weeks off of the road, so what did I do? Go on the road for a vacation. We actually braved Disney World in one of the hottest periods of the summer in Florida. Our daughter, who is now 7, got a “princess makeover” at Cinderella’s castle, and sang all the words to “Little Cabin on the Hill” to the stylist while she was working on her hair. How often does that happen?

We have some local appearances in Nashville coming up, including Kimbro’s Cafe in Franklin, TN (see “shows and workshops” page) and a just-added date on the Music City Roots concert series, then we’re off until we start a busy Labor Day weekend.

Bluegrass Junction now has its own Facebook page. It can be found at www.facebook.com/bluegrassjunction. Stop by and “like” us, because we like being “liked”.

My “Fake Blog Comment of the Week” contest continues (there will be no winners, just an endless contest, until someone figures out how to block these spamming low-lifes). This week’s has a nice English-as-second-language feel about it:

“Properly, that is my primary stop by to your web site! We are a group of volunteers and starting a new initiative inside a community in the same niche. Your blog supplied us useful information to perform on. You have accomplished a marvellous employment!”

Whenever I accomplish a marvellous employment, I feel like I’ve done my job. Feel free to leave real comments for us; we enjoy those even more than the fake ones.
